Getting there by Bus
National Express
National Express runs bus services across the country. Their web site is on www.nationalexpress.com. However services to Minehead have been altered, and you will need to change bus at Taunton Bus Station. You can buy a ticket straight through to Minehead, and the bus stops at Butlins, in front of Reception.
Travelling on Sunday
If your journey means you are returning on Sunday, you cannot book National Express through the Internet. You have to phone them, and even then they have to use a special method of booking it. However there is a better way...
You should book a return ticket with National Express to Taunton Bus Station. Then get on the Minehead bus and pay the driver (see below).
Local Buses
First Group runs a range of services to Minehead. For full details of their services, go to their web site on www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/southwest/somerset/timetables/timetableindex.php and enter Minehead as the destination.
The main bus is the 28/X28, which goes from Taunton Bus & Railway station directly to Butlins Reception and back. The service is about one an hour, but is irregular on Sundays.
The travel costs are £4.20 on a weekday/Saturday. However on a Sunday, there is a local subsidy, and the buses are only £1.75. The bus drivers do have some change, but if you bring the exact fare it is appreciated.
Note that the buses are of a limited size, and it's first come first served. We have requested that they provide larger buses on the Sunday, and they will see what they can do. |
